Kess — KE43000430 | Alfa Romeo 1900 CSS Coupé Zagato (1957)

A celebrated benchmark of lightweight aerodynamic design, the Alfa Romeo 1900 C Super Sprint bodied by Zagato stands among the most iconic Italian GT racers of the 1950s. Hand-crafted in Milan under Elio Zagato using thin-gauge all-aluminum alloy panels and lightweight Perspex windows, the coupe features athletic, functional lines highlighted by Zagato's trademark "double bubble" (doppia bolla) roof contour—a design signature engineered to reinforce roof rigidity while granting essential headroom for helmeted drivers.

Built upon the factory short-wheelbase (Corto) chassis, it is powered by Alfa Romeo’s competition-proven 1,975 cc twin-cam (Bialbero) inline-four engine (Tipo 1308). Breather through twin dual-choke Solex 40 PII carburetors with an 8:1 compression ratio, it delivers 115 horsepower at 5,500 rpm. Mated to a floor-shift 5-speed manual gearbox and tipping the scales at just under 1,000 kg (approx. 950 kg / 2,094 lbs), the Zagato coupe achieved a top speed exceeding 190 km/h (118 mph). A formidable contender in the 2.0-liter GT class at the Mille Miglia and Giro di Sicilia, it remains one of the most coveted gems of the entire 1900 lineage.
