MINICHAMPS
Minichamps is a German model car manufacturer based in Aachen, renowned for producing miniature vehicles primarily in 1/43, 1/18, and 1/64 scales. The company was officially established as “Minichamps” in 1996, but traces its roots to 1921 with Danhausen, a toy and miniature distributor. In the 1970s, the Lang brothers (notably Paul-Günter Lang) launched a comprehensive model car catalogue, which would—after a family split—lead to the creation of Paul’s Model Art GmbH in 1990. The “Minichamps” name first appeared as a range at Danhausen and was later adopted as the main brand.
The first Minichamps model was a 1/43 Audi V8 DTM, an immediate success and soon followed by a wide range of models: road cars, F1, rally, trucks, buses, and motorcycles. Minichamps models are noted for their accuracy, die-cast quality, and extensive catalogue. Production is carried out in China, with design in Germany. Leading car brands such as Mercedes, Porsche, Audi, and BMW entrust Minichamps with producing their official promotional miniatures. In 2016, the Maxichamps range was launched for more affordable models. Today, Minichamps offers thousands of references and remains a staple among collectors worldwide.
