The MG M-type Midget is a small, lightweight British two-seater sports car produced from 1929 to 1932 and often regarded as MG’s first true mass-produced sports model. Its narrow body, upright windscreen and, on some versions, boat-tail rear end give it a very distinctive pre-war sports car appearance.
Power comes from an 847 cc inline four-cylinder overhead-cam engine derived from the Morris Minor, with a single SU carburettor and an output in the 20 to 27 hp range depending on the year, coupled to a 3- or 4-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive. With a weight of roughly 500 kg, the M-type could reach about 100 km/h and achieved notable success in trials and races such as the Land’s End Trial and the Brooklands Double Twelve. This specific MG M-type 1929–1932 is replicated by MATRIX at 1/43 scale under reference MX31305-021, offering a finely detailed resin model for collectors.
