Created by industrial designer Richard Arbib, the Astra Gnome is a striking 1956 concept car built on a Nash Metropolitan chassis and envisioned as a futuristic “Time and Space Car” for the year 2000. Its aluminum space‑age bodywork, bubble canopy cockpit, hidden wheels and famous celestial time‑zone clock made it a star of the 1956 New York International Auto Show and even earned it a Newsweek cover feature.
