Campaigned in the fiercely contested SCCA Trans-American Championship at the Bridgehampton round in June 1969, this Porsche 911 carrying the iconic Brumos start number #59 was driven by legendary American road racer Peter Gregg. Competing in the "Under 2-Liter" (U2L) division, the car made full use of the updated 1969 long-wheelbase (LWB) chassis, which provided enhanced high-speed stability and poise through the undulating sweeps of the Long Island circuit. Gregg delivered a stellar performance against stiff European competition and heavy V8 muscle cars, securing a remarkable 7th place overall finish alongside a commanding 1st place victory in the Under 2-Liter class.

Power came from an endurance-tuned 2.0-liter (1,991 cc) air-cooled flat-six engine developed from the 911 S specification for Group 2 Trans-Am regulations. Generating approximately 190 to 200 horsepower at over 7,500 rpm, the engine was mated to a close-ratio Type 901 5-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. Weighing under 960 kg (2,116 lbs) and equipped with uprated anti-roll bars, race-tuned suspension damping, and heavy-duty ventilated disc brakes, the agile #59 was a masterclass in efficiency, playing a pivotal role in Porsche securing the 1969 Trans-Am U2L Manufacturers' Championship title.
