The Volvo Coupe de Mola 1961 refers to the renowned Volvo P1800, an elegant grand tourer launched in 1961, famous for its Italian-inspired styling, a blend of Scandinavian robustness and distinctive design. Developed to modernize Volvo’s image, it was styled by Pelle Petterson with input from coachbuilder Frua. Initially built at Jensen in England, the P1800 embodies Scandinavian reliability and elegance, powered by a 1.8L 4-cylinder engine producing 90 to 100 hp depending on the version, with a top speed of 166 to 179 km/h. Its timeless looks, high build quality, and mechanical reliability made it a symbol of 1960s Nordic coupés, notably known for its starring role in the TV series “The Saint” with Roger Moore.
