The No. 48 Porsche 935 of the Mecarillos Cegecol Team, driven by Claude Haldi, Herbert Müller, and the enigmatic "Nico" (Nick McGranger), took the start of the 1978 24 Hours of Le Mans in the GTP category. Dressed in striking red and yellow colors, the car was forced to retire after 13 hours due to a gearbox failure. Despite this setback, the Swiss-German crew battled through the night in a highly competitive field of both works and private Porsche entries. This entry stands as a testament to the spirit and determination of privateer teams in Le Mans’s golden era.
