The Cooper T51 #48 driven by Bruce Halford participated in the 1960 French Grand Prix at the Reims-Gueux circuit. Starting from 16th on the grid, Halford finished 8th after 40 laps before retiring due to an engine problem. Despite the retirement, he showcased the competitiveness and robustness of the Cooper T51 in a field dominated by rear-engine cars during that season. The race was won by Jack Brabham, ahead of Olivier Gendebien and Bruce McLaren, all driving Cooper-Climax cars.
