The Fiat X1/9 Icsunonove was unveiled at the 1975 Paris Motor Show, representing Fiat and Bertone’s ambition to create an innovative mid-engine sports coupe designed for both road and racing. This special version, called “Icsunonove” (the Italian phonetic for “X1/9”), stands out thanks to its aggressive bodywork, widened fenders, and large rear wing—clear signs of its adaptation to Group 5 competition rules. Developed in partnership with Dallara, the X1/9 Dallara featured a 1.3L and later a supercharged 1.6L engine, reaching top-level performances for the period (up to 230 hp). The car mainly excelled in hillclimb events and appeared in several Italian and German championships. This model perfectly embodies Fiat’s innovative and sporting spirit of the 1970s.
