The BMW E30 M3 number 3 driven by Joachim Winkelhock competed in the famous 1992 Macau Grand Prix, in the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft) category. During this highly competitive race, Winkelhock finished 2nd, right behind Emanuele Pirro, also in a Schnitzer Motorsport BMW M3. This result was the highlight of a strong season for the Sport Evolution M3, which remained one of the top touring cars.
