Based on the 996 generation, the GT3 R marked Porsche's move to liquid-cooled engine technology in customer GT racing, quickly becoming a dominant force in the LM GT class powered by its 410-hp 3.6-liter naturally aspirated flat-six.

Entered by German squad Seikel Motorsport as car #76, the GT3 R was driven by Max Cohen-Olivar, Michel Neugarten, and Tony Burgess. Navigating a clean and highly consistent 24-hour race around the Sarthe circuit, the trio crossed the finish line in a strong 18th place overall (securing 3rd place on the LM GT podium).
