Spark — S5426 | Porsche 911 (930) Turbo 3.0 (1975)

Unveiled at the 1974 Paris Motor Show and entering production for the 1975 model year, the original Porsche 911 Turbo (internal designation type 930) was a watershed moment in high-performance automotive history, pioneering forced induction for road cars. Translating the turbocharging supremacy mastered on the dominant 917/30 Can-Am racers directly to the street, it adopted an aggressive, purposeful silhouette highlighted by dramatically widened rear fenders and the legendary "whale tail" rear spoiler designed to maximize engine cooling and high-speed aerodynamic stability.

Powered by an air-cooled 3.0-liter flat-six engine (type 930/50 or 930/52) boosted by a single KKK turbocharger at 0.8 bar alongside Bosch K-Jetronic mechanical fuel injection, it generated 260 horsepower and a massive 343 Nm (253 lb-ft) of torque. To withstand the fierce torque surge, Porsche equipped it with a heavy-duty 4-speed manual gearbox. Tipping the scales at a modest 1,140 kg (2,513 lbs), it catapulted from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds on its way to a top speed beyond 250 km/h (155 mph), establishing itself as the fastest and most iconic German production sports car of the 1970s.
