Spark — S6743 | Lamborghini Countach LP5000 S / 5000S (1982)

Introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1982, the Countach LP5000 S (also commonly called the 5000S) carried forward the aggressive, muscular aesthetic pioneered by the LP400 S and styled by Marcello Gandini at Bertone. Instantly recognizable by its wide flared fiberglass wheel arches, deep front chin spoiler, signature five-hole Campagnolo "Bravo" alloy wheels wrapped in massive Pirelli P7 rear tires, and the optional dramatic arrow-shaped rear wing, it became the defining poster car of the 1980s.

The headline upgrade lay in the mid-mounted engine bay, where the legendary Bizzarrini-designed V12 was bored and stroked to 4,754 cc (4.8 liters). Fed by six twin-choke side-draft Weber 45 DCOE carburetors, output stood at 375 horsepower with torque significantly improved to 418 Nm (308 lb-ft) at 4,500 rpm. Routed through a 5-speed gated manual gearbox, the enlarged powerplant propelled the wedge-shaped exotic from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds toward a claimed top speed of 290 km/h (180 mph). With only 321 examples produced, it stands as a celebrated benchmark of supercar heritage.
