The Porsche 911 Turbo S LM No. 46, in special “30 years 911” livery, started the 1993 24 Hours of Le Mans driven by Hans-Joachim Stuck, Walter Röhrl, and Hurley Haywood. Specially developed for the event, this radical 911 variant faced off against the new Jaguar XJ220 and Group C prototypes. Running at the front early on (fastest GT lap), the Porsche was forced to retire before 10 pm following a collision that damaged its oil cooler. Despite its brief race, the Turbo S LM left a lasting impression for its top speed (315 km/h on the Mulsanne straight) and its star driver line-up.
