LookSmart — LSRC115 | Ferrari 275 P2 No. 198 (SpA Ferrari SEFAC — Winner Targa Florio 1965)
Developed for the 1965 racing season, the Ferrari 275 P2 featured a new semi-monocoque chassis with riveted aluminum panels, powered by a 3.3-liter quad-cam V12 engine producing 350 horsepower. Nimble, lightweight, and exceptionally well-balanced, its streamlined spider bodywork was tailor-made for tight and demanding road courses.
Entered as a factory works car by SpA Ferrari SEFAC under No. #198, the 275 P2 was driven by Italian legends Nino Vaccarella (Sicily's local hero) and Lorenzo Bandini. Mastering the treacherous 72-kilometer Piccolo Circuito delle Madonie, the duo put on a dominant performance in front of an ecstatic home crowd to cross the finish line in 1st place (Race Winner), capturing one of Ferrari's most celebrated victories at the Targa Florio.
