LookSmart — LSLM155 | Ferrari 330 P4 No. 20 (SpA Ferrari SEFAC — 24 Hours of Le Mans 1967)
Mauro Forghieri’s masterpiece, the Ferrari 330 P4 represents the pinnacle of 1960s Italian sports prototypes. Powered by a 4.0-liter 3-valve-per-cylinder V12 engine featuring Lucas indirect injection and producing 450 horsepower, its gorgeous, aerodynamically refined bodywork was engineered as Maranello's primary weapon against Ford's massive 7.0-liter Mk IV armada.
Entered as a factory works car by SpA Ferrari SEFAC carrying No. #20, this Spyder was shared by a star pairing: New Zealander Chris Amon and Sicilian legend Nino Vaccarella. While running strongly near the front, their race came to an early end on lap 105 when a tire puncture on the Mulsanne Straight caused a small fire and suspension damage, forcing their retirement.
