At the 1984 European Grand Prix, the Ligier JS23B No. 26, driven by Andrea de Cesaris, took part in a historic race on the newly redesigned Nürburgring, now much shorter and safer. This race took place on October 7, in cold weather and in front of 50,000 spectators. Unfortunately, the Ligier was not very competitive compared to the rest of the grid. Starting from 17th place, de Cesaris fought bravely but suffered from failing brakes late in the race, finishing 7th, one lap behind winner Alain Prost (McLaren). This event was notable for bringing F1 back to the Nürburgring after Niki Lauda’s 1976 accident and for the fierce world championship battle.
This Ligier JS23B No. 26 as raced by Andrea de Cesaris at Nürburgring 1984 is faithfully reproduced in 1/43 scale by SPARK.
