In the 1983 Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, Thierry Boutsen drove the Arrows A6 no.30 for the Arrows Racing Team, powered by the Ford Cosworth DFV V8, running mainly in the lower midfield and never challenging the front-runners in a race dominated by cars from Ferrari and McLaren. This event formed part of his first full Formula 1 season, during which he was learning the championship in an independently run car that was reliable but technically outclassed, and he finished the year without scoring any World Championship points despite frequent race starts.
