Driven by the formidable American pairing of Peter Gregg and Sam Posey under the banner of Brumos Porsche, the car showcases the classic short-wheelbase (SWB) silhouette in its purest form, stripped of factory hubcaps for ventilated steel competition wheels, lightweight safety hood pins, and authentic period racing decals. Proving brilliantly competitive against much larger-displacement machinery, Gregg and Posey drove the car to an outstanding 10th place overall finish and captured a dominant 1st place in the Under 2.0-Liter GT class.

Power was provided by the competition-tuned 2.0-liter (1,991 cc) air-cooled flat-six engine (Tipo 901/02) derived from the 911 S. Breathed on by twin triple-choke Weber 40 IDS carburetors and featuring an elevated compression ratio, it generated 160 horsepower (over 170 hp in endurance race trim) at 6,600 rpm. Coupled with a Type 901 5-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential, the 1,000 kg (2,204 lbs) coupe leveraged its superior chassis balance, nimble handling, and rock-solid reliability to master the abrasive concrete runways of Sebring.
