This masterclass scale model replicates the iconic Maserati 300S spider #2, celebrated overall winner of the inaugural Cuban Grand Prix (Gran Premio de Cuba), held on the scenic Malecón street circuit in Havana on February 25, 1957. Engineered by Vittorio Bellentani and sculpted in lightweight aluminum by Carrozzeria Fantuzzi, this Trident masterpiece was propelled by a punchy 3.0-liter twin-plug inline-six engine producing around 260 horsepower. Wearing its traditional, vibrant Italian racing red livery accented by bold white #2 competition numbering, the car was piloted by five-time Formula 1 World Champion Juan Manuel Fangio.
Staged along Havana’s famous seaside boulevard, the challenging temporary street course blended flat-out coastal blasts with tight 90-degree corners that demanded supreme chassis balance, precise throttle modulation, and mechanical traction. Battling high-caliber opposition from powerful Scuderia Ferrari entries driven by Carroll Shelby and Alfonso de Portago, alongside Stirling Moss in a Jaguar D-Type, Fangio delivered an absolute masterclass in fluid, tire-preserving racecraft. Exploiting the 300S’s agile mid-corner poise on the dusty Cuban asphalt, "El Maestro" took control of the contest to take the checkered flag and secure a dominant overall victory at the 1957 Cuban Grand Prix. Produced under Spark's dedicated US collector line, this miniature highlights exquisite craftsmanship, featuring a deep gloss red finish, photo-etched Borrani wire wheels, curved racing windscreen with cowl-mounted mirror, and detailed side-exit exhaust piping.
