Spark — S7753 | Ford RS200 No. 1 (Ford Motor Co. Ltd. — Swedish Rally 1986)
Purpose-built from the ground up for Group B competition, the Ford RS200 featured a clean-sheet design engineered by Tony Southgate and John Wheeler. Built around a lightweight carbon and composite monocoque with a mid-mounted 1.8-liter turbocharged BDT four-cylinder engine generating approximately 420 horsepower, it incorporated an advanced permanent four-wheel-drive system with adjustable torque-split capabilities.
Carrying start number #1 for the works team in the car's official World Rally Championship debut, this RS200 was piloted by Swedish winter specialist and 1984 World Champion Stig Blomqvist, alongside co-driver Bruno Berglund. Running strongly in contention among the leaders across the ice- and snow-covered stages, their rally came to an abrupt halt on SS23 due to engine trouble (oil pressure failure), forcing their retirement.
