Spark — S9169 | Lancia Rally 037 No. 6 (Martini Racing — Winner Rallye Sanremo 1983)
A celebrated icon of Group B motorsport, the Lancia Rally 037 holds the distinction of being the last rear-wheel-drive car to capture the World Rally Championship for Manufacturers, famously defeating Audi's revolutionary all-wheel-drive quattro. Built around a tubular spaceframe chassis developed with Abarth and Dallara, it was powered by a mid-mounted 2.0-liter inline-four fitted with a Roots-type Volumex supercharger producing roughly 310 horsepower, offering superb balance and agility on twisty asphalt and hard-packed gravel stages.
Carrying start number #6 in iconic Martini Racing livery, this works machine was driven by Finnish legend Markku Alén, navigated by co-driver Ilkka Kivimäki. Dominating the challenging mixed-surface stages across Tuscany and Liguria, Alén spearheaded an emphatic 1-2-3 sweep for the Italian squad ahead of teammates Walter Röhrl and Attilio Bettega. Taking 1st place overall (Race Winner), Alén mathematically clinched the 1983 World Rally Championship Manufacturers' crown for Lancia on home soil.
