The flagship performance variant of Peugeot’s executive saloon, the 505 STI was powered by the 2.2-liter all-aluminum "Douvrin" inline-four engine featuring Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection. Combining a balanced rear-wheel-drive chassis with robust structural rigidity and supple long-travel suspension, it delivered predictable handling and proven durability across slick, undulating winter roads.

Carrying start number #20, this 505 STI was shared by the French husband-and-wife duo of Claude Laurent and co-driver Dominique Laurent. Navigating treacherous icy passes and tricky asphalt stages throughout the 1982 Monte Carlo Rally, the pairing displayed great consistency to pilot the French saloon to the finish in 32nd place overall.
