Spark — S2615 | Peugeot 104 ZS No. 12 (Rally de Portugal 1978)
Homologated in Group 2, the Peugeot 104 ZS offset its modest horsepower with razor-sharp handling, an ultra-compact wheelbase, and a featherweight chassis weighing roughly 750 kg. Powered by a tuned inline-four engine breathing through twin dual-barrel carburetors, it proved both agile and remarkably tough on rough gravel tracks and winding technical stages.
Entered as an official works car wearing race number #12, this 104 ZS was entrusted to legendary "Flying Finn" Timo Mäkinen, navigated by veteran British co-driver Henry Liddon. Navigating punishing gravel stages and surviving heavy attrition across the 1978 Rally de Portugal, Mäkinen maximized the car's agility to guide the little French hatchback to a stellar 7th place overall.
