This high-precision scale model replicates the Porsche 911 GT2 (Type 993) #84 campaigned by Swiss outfit Stadler Motorsport at the 1997 24 Hours of Le Mans. Serving as the pinnacle of Porsche's air-cooled racing lineage, this competition-spec GT2 was powered by a 3.6-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six generating approximately 450 horsepower. Carrying a distinctive two-tone yellow and black livery featuring sponsorship from Pulverlac, Lorinser, and Hotel Continental Expo 2001, the machine was entrusted to the experienced Swiss-Italian trio of Enzo Calderari, Lilian Bryner, and Angelo Zadra.
Battling in an exceptionally demanding GT2 field that pitted numerous independent 911 squads against the factory-backed Chrysler Viper GTS-R contingent, the #84 car maintained a disciplined and determined pace across the opening hours at Circuit de la Sarthe. Running strongly through the afternoon and early evening phases, the car's charge was cut short before nightfall when terminal mechanical trouble struck, forcing the team into retirement on lap 98. Spark's meticulous craftsmanship captures all the defining characteristics of the 993 GT2, from the aggressive bolt-on wide fenders and twin-deck rear wing with integrated intercooler scoops to the gold-centered competition wheels and crisp period sponsor decals.
