A major evolution in Maranello's P-series prototype line, the Ferrari 330 P2 featured a new semi-monocoque chassis with riveted aluminum panels and a powerful 4.0-liter quad-cam V12 engine producing 410 horsepower. Its streamlined spider bodywork was engineered to counter the mounting threat from the Ford GT40s.

Entered as a works car by SpA Ferrari SEFAC under No. #20, this 330 P2 was shared by the formidable pairing of Frenchman Jean Guichet and Briton Mike Parkes. Battling near the front of the field for most of the event, the duo completed 315 demanding laps before being forced into retirement late in the race due to mechanical issues.
