Spark — S5423 | Porsche 911 (964) Turbo S Leichtbau / Lightweight (1992)
Jointly developed by Porsche's Motorsport department in Weissach and Porsche Exclusive, the 964 Turbo S "Leichtbau" (Lightweight) stands as one of the most revered and hardcore road-going 911s ever built. Engineered as an extreme street-legal homologation-style weapon, it underwent a ruthless weight-saving regimen: removal of sound deadening, air conditioning, power windows, and rear seats, paired with fiberglass/composite body panels and thinner glass, shaving roughly 180 kg (nearly 400 lbs) off the standard Turbo.
Beneath its signature fixed rear spoiler sat a heavily tuned version of the air-cooled 3.3-liter single-turbo flat-six (type M30/69 SL). Benefiting from more aggressive camshaft profiles, modified injection timing, and raised boost pressure, power jumped to 381 horsepower. Channeling that power exclusively to the rear wheels through a reinforced 5-speed manual gearbox and a 40% mechanical limited-slip differential, the Leichtbau rocketed from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds onto a top speed of 290 km/h (180 mph). With just 86 units produced worldwide, it remains the ultimate Holy Grail of the 964 lineage.
