This detailed scale model replicates the sleek fiberglass D.B HBR 5 coupe #57 entered by factory squad Automobiles Deutsch et Bonnet at the 1957 24 Hours of Le Mans. Designed to contend for top honors in the small-displacement ranks and the coveted Index of Performance, the lightweight French racer was powered by a 745cc air-cooled Panhard flat-twin engine tucked inside an aerodynamically streamlined body. Wearing classic French Racing Blue with period roundels and competition numbers, the car was driven by the French pairing of Bernard Deviterne and Marcel Laillier.
Tackling the grueling Sarthe circuit, the #57 machine showcased impressive top-end efficiency down the legendary Mulsanne Straight, displaying exceptional agility against its rivals in the S 750 class. However, the team's endurance run came to an untimely halt during the Saturday evening hours when a mechanical failure forced the car into retirement on lap 68 after a spirited opening phase. Spark’s craftsmanship faithfully honors 1950s French motorsport heritage, capturing the car's distinctive bubble silhouette, delicate wheels, and covered headlights.
